For children who are experiencing challenges at school, at home, or in the community.
Big emotions before school. Reluctance to go. Frequent worries, friendship challenges, or low confidence. If your child is struggling with any of these, you're not alone — and support is available.
As a registered Educational Psychologist based in Rotorua, I work with children and their families to understand what’s going on beneath the surface and provide practical strategies that support emotional wellbeing, social skills, and positive behaviour.

Support for Common Childhood Challenges
I help children experiencing:
Big emotions before or after school
School refusal or reluctance
Anxiety or overwhelming worries
Separation anxiety
Social conflict or difficulty making friends
Low self-esteem or self-confidence
Feelings of loneliness or withdrawal
Coaching Children with Practical, Positive Strategies
Support includes direct work with your child to build the skills they need to feel more confident and resilient in everyday life. This might involve:
Learning about emotions and how to manage them
Practising coping strategies for anxiety, anger, or sadness
Building resilience and learning to be brave
Improving self-esteem and confidence
Social problem-solving and navigating conflict
Executive functioning skills (e.g. focus, organisation)
Goal setting and motivation building
Establishing healthy habits and routines
A Collaborative and Tailored Process
1. Initial Consultation
We begin with a parent-only consultation to understand your child’s experiences and needs.
2. School Collaboration (if needed)
Where appropriate, I may liaise with your child’s school to ensure consistent, wraparound support.
3. Targeted Coaching Sessions
Your child will attend 6–10 weekly or fortnightly sessions where we’ll focus on specific emotional, social, or behavioural skills through tailored coaching activities.
4. Ongoing Review
We’ll review progress together and make adjustments to ensure your child is supported in a way that fits their world.

Your child deserves support that helps them thrive.
Let’s work together to build their confidence and emotional wellbeing.

Why Families Work With Me
With a background in primary teaching and strong roots in the Rotorua community, I bring a practical, down-to-earth approach to child psychology. My work is grounded in research, but always guided by the real-life needs of tamariki, whānau, and schools.
I support children by also empowering the adults around them — parents, caregivers, and educators — with the tools and confidence to make meaningful change.
You can expect support that is:
Warm and family-centred
Collaborative and strengths-based
Tailored to your unique whānau and context
Informed by both psychology and real-world experience
Let’s help your child feel confident, resilient, and understood.
