Emotional and Behavioural Support for Children

For children who are experiencing challenges at school, at home, or in the community.

Big emotions before school. Reluctance to go. Frequent worries, friendship challenges, or low confidence. If your child is struggling with any of these, you're not alone — and support is available.

As a registered Educational Psychologist based in Rotorua, I work with children and their families to understand what’s going on beneath the surface and provide practical strategies that support emotional wellbeing, social skills, and positive behaviour.

A Collaborative and Tailored Process

1. Initial Consultation

We begin with a parent-only consultation to understand your child’s experiences and needs.

2. School Collaboration (if needed)

Where appropriate, I may liaise with your child’s school to ensure consistent, wraparound support.

3. Targeted Coaching Sessions

Your child will attend 6–10 weekly or fortnightly sessions where we’ll focus on specific emotional, social, or behavioural skills through tailored coaching activities.

4. Ongoing Review

We’ll review progress together and make adjustments to ensure your child is supported in a way that fits their world.

Why Families Work With Me

With a background in primary teaching and strong roots in the Rotorua community, I bring a practical, down-to-earth approach to child psychology. My work is grounded in research, but always guided by the real-life needs of tamariki, whānau, and schools.

I support children by also empowering the adults around them — parents, caregivers, and educators — with the tools and confidence to make meaningful change.

You can expect support that is:

  • Warm and family-centred

  • Collaborative and strengths-based

  • Tailored to your unique whānau and context

  • Informed by both psychology and real-world experience

Let’s help your child feel confident, resilient, and understood.
